About Blue Ridge Elementary School

Welcome to Blue Ridge Elementary!  We educate students in Pre-K through 5th grade.  We are located in the northeast corner of Collin County in the beautiful rolling hills of Blue Ridge, Texas.  Each school year we have a fun theme to engage the students and provide campus camaraderie.  This year we are the Pirates Seeking Treasure, and each grade level is employing the Teach Like a Pirate  philosophy of educational author and teacher, Dave Burgess.  This means engaging students in a fun and exciting way which grabs their attention and makes them eager to learn.  Every day our teachers maximize the potential of each student and help develop well-rounded individuals who are outstanding citizens in our community.

To support our 21st century learners, we provide the latest technology in our classrooms, including In-Focus projectors and iPads for every teacher.  We also implement a one-to-one iPad initiative, as well as a computer lab, for the student’s use while on our campus.  AT BRE we value small class sizes and maximizing our instructional time.  To meet the needs of our gifted learners, we have a pull-out gifted & talented program that enhances the instruction provided within each grade level.  Our reading program is structured with daily guide reading and writing time, in addition to the daily skills rotations for differentiated intervention and instruction for all students.   Educational field trips are offered in every grade level to provide students with real world learning applications.  Our Tigers also participate in the annual UIL academic competition in individual and team events, Junior FFA, and Special Olympics.

Our students extend their learning experience by attending art, music, PE and library/technology classes on a rotating schedule during the week.  We incorporate an enrichment period every day with fine arts objectives.  Our fine arts program also supports several art contests during the year, an art show with a living artist museum, Field Day, musical performances and school reading challenges.  The product of the fine arts program is showcased quarterly for parents in evening STAR assemblies.

Our community supports the celebration of Christmas parties, Valentine’s parties and Easter egg hunts.  In addition to these events, we host Meet the Teacher Night, Super Science Expo, silent auctions, book fairs and Open House to showcase the incredible talents of our Tigers.  To enhance the reading/writing connections for our learners, students and staff celebrate Storybook Character Day with a campus parade and a dress up as our favorite storybook characters.  We also participate in the celebration of Blue Ridge Homecoming events.

To celebrate the achievements of our learners, we have a quarterly STAR (Successful Tiger Achievement Recognition) assemblies which recognize student attendance, outstanding performance in Fine Arts, and superior achievement in academics.  Every nine weeks we also recognize the academic success of our students making A Honor Roll and A/B Honor Roll.  We provide leadership opportunities for our students through the 5th grade safety patrol, student advisory committees, PreK Readers and various classroom helper duties.  Students also have opportunities to apply real world skills, such as presenting in front of an audience at our monthly School Board meetings.

Please stop by our campus and see the wonderful things happening here.
