After a thorough search process, Joel Zuniga has been named Lone Finalist for the Blue Ridge Middle School Dean of Students position and will be officially recommended for hire at the June 17th BRISD School Board Meeting. He has 18 years of experience in education, has a proven record of developing positive relationships and effectively collaborating with teachers, parents, students, and staff, and he works hard to create an atmosphere and culture that empowers and encourages students to be the best version of themselves.
Mr. Zuniga has been a teacher/coach in Blue Ridge, Wylie, Fort Worth, Red Oak, and Bartlesville, OK. And before that, he served as an assistant men's basketball coach at Northeastern State University. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Northeastern State University, as well as teacher certificates in grades 4-8, special education K-12, social studies, health, and P.E. And he is currently in the principal certification program at Lamar University, with a completion date expected in Fall 2024.
Joel is married to Jessica, and they have one son and three daughters - all of which attend Blue Ridge schools. Mr. Zuniza stated, "I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as Dean of Students at Blue Ridge Middle School. I look forward to working with our staff and students and doing great things this coming year."
